Chandler D Obelisk
BIOGRAPHY
Chandler is just me, John Waring. I've played in a few bands down the years, and currently I'm in The Gresham Flyers. One thing I love about this challenge is that I can do precisely what I want with the songs, without any compromises; but the main thing I love it that it simply forces me to write, and some of the stuff I come up with has really thrilled me :O)

Completed Albums
Slapstick Tragedy(2007)
I was looking for "Psych" on the list of genres, but chose "Electronic - Beat Driven". This is a very spontaneously conceived collection of songs about the frustration of finding a new job at a very boring time of year, in a gritty part of town. It's also about the joy of meeting with friends and getting wasted, and looking forward to the future. Lots of reverb vocals, twangy guitars, 80s synths and echoey beats.
Social Exclusion Unit(2008)
More guitar-based than my 2007 album, and with less spoken stuff and more singing. For lyrical inspiration this time, I used lots of local London newspapers. There's even a dancehall track on here...
The Evil Escapes(2009)
I don't think I'm exaggerating by saying this is far and away the best of the three RPM albums I've made; and I had to do it in 19 days flat, to boot, as I was going to Jamaica on Feb 20. I'll classify this one as "Alternative" rather than "Electronic - Beat Driven", as there's a wider range of styles on this, and this time I've aped The Smiths and The House of Love on a couple of tracks.
I desperately enjoyed doing this album, to the extent that I might retire on this one. We shall see :O)
Baptist Youth Picnic(2011)
